I've come up with a group activity for some future students in relation to the phases of the moon. After you watch this clip explaining the moon phases, I will explain my activity.
My idea is to form the class into two groups. One represents the earth and the other will be the moon. I will need use of a large room or perhaps gymnasium. Both groups will get the chance to be the moon and earth. I, as the teacher will represent the sun (with a flashlight) I will put markers with tape on the floor. One for the earth and the other for the orbit of the moon. Students will stand in circles facing outward. The earth group will be stationary, but rotating to mimick a day. The moon group will be following the taped orbit pattern and I will be the sun (with the flashlight). It may take awhile to get everyone coordinated, but that will be the fun of it.
Criticisms and suggestions please!!!
